The mission of UpLIFTD is to assist persons with disabilities and the disadvantaged in achieving their goal of self-sufficiency through their desired employment.
Our vision is to be the best private nonprofit vocational rehabilitation agency in the state of Louisiana by serving the most clients with the highest quality services and the most successful outcomes.
UpLIFTD, a 501 © 3 non-profit agency, was incorporated as Louisiana Industries for the Disabled, Inc. in 1984. UpLIFTD was made possible through a state/federal grant by Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, (LRS). UpLIFTD primarily serves persons with disabilities and other persons with serious barriers to employment. In 1995, UpLIFTD relocated to its present headquarters at 1979 Beaumont Drive in a 13,500 square foot fully accessible complex. WCRC, a residential/treatment operation which has been open since 1974, merged with UpLIFTD in 1992. UpLIFTD has government contracts in several different cities in Louisiana such as Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Alexandria where persons with disabilities fill the job positions created by these contracts. UpLIFTD has a Business Advisory Council called BACE, which is a joint venture with LRS and the local business community. UpLIFTD is certified under the Standards of Excellence Program by the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations (LANO). This certification is awarded based on a non-profit agency’s consistently meeting a high standard of quality in their operations.
